902 Ranger Weekend Registration

NOTICE TO SQUADRON COMMANDERS

Thank you for expressing an interest in allowing your members to attend Squadron 902’s Ground Team Training Weekend at our “Camp Brunt” training site. Our program provides an excellent source of CAP Emergency Services and Leadership training for both Senior Officers and Cadets. The following prerequisites are for cadets and senior officers planning to attend the training. Due to the remote terrain conditions and the fast paced level of instruction, all members’ attending MUST meet the following requirements prior to applying for attendance to the event.

DATE:             13-15 June 2008
ARRIVAL TIME: 2000hrs
LOCATION:       842 Packer Drive, Weatherly, PA

Prior to attendance; ALL Member’s must have the following completed:
  1. Current CAP Membership Card.
  2. National CAP OPSEC Awareness Training.
  3. PAWG ORM Safety Briefing completed.
  4. ALL aspects of certification related to General Emergency Services Level and “GES” must appear on their CAP 101 Card WITH a GTM 3 “Trainee” status posted on the 101 card.
  5. Satisfy the PACKING LIST REQUIREMENTS. Your members must be fully equipped for the environment or they will be restricted on their level of participation for the entire weekend.
At CHECK IN
  1. ALL Members’ will be required to be in complete BDU uniform (as to CAP uniform standards), present their CAP Membership Card and 101 card.
  2. Undergo a personal pack inspection.
  3. All Paperwork must be completed and must be in order.

Ground Orientation I; Basic Ground Team Member (GTM 3) (Field Exercises)
  • Resource Management Basics for GTM 3, 2 & 1
  • The theory behind ELT operation
  • Directional Finding (DF) equipment and techniques
  • Individual Equipment Inventory “Day and Extended Stay Packs” and Readiness
  • Patient Packaging and Evacuation
  • Basic First Aid and Extrication (Due to time restraints, no F/A certification will be provided)
  • Communications from the field
  • Necessity of Safe Operations
  • Field exercises for individual qualification and SQTR sign off
Ground Orientation II; Advanced Ground Team Member (GTM 2 & 1) (Field Exercises)
  • Woodland Survival Basics (for GTM 2 & 1)

  • Necessity of Safe Operations
  • Field exercises for individual qualification and SQTR sign off
Ground Orientation III; Ground Team Leader (GTL) (Field Exercises)
  • Responsibilities of the GTL
  • GTL Specific Equipment Inventory and Team Readiness
  • The Importance of Briefing / Debriefing
  • Ground Team training topics to instruct the membership
  • ES Mission related forms
  • Necessity of Safe Operations
  • Field exercises for individual qualification and SQTR sign off
Radio Communications Orientation (Mission Base & Field Exercises)
  • CAP Communications - the “voice of command”
  • Getting Involved
  • Review of ROA-A topics (Due to time restrictions, ROA certification will not be available)
  • Equipment set-up for a mission base and/or field communication “relay” stations
  • Communications Network Operations – The Net Control Station responsibilities
  • Message Handling
  • Individual Qualification for SQTR sign off for Mission Radio Operator rating
